In 1989 when I was
a senior in college at Madison, Papa came up from Chicago and stayed with
me for a weekend visit. We had a wonderful time together. Saturday night
we went to see Arlo Guthrie at the Barrymore Theater with a big group
of friends. Afterward I figured he'd be tired and we'd just go back to
my house and hang out. Well he wasn't tired and wanted the evening to
continue. So we went to the Student Union and had some drinks at the bar.
After a while I was getting a little sleepy and suggested we go back home
for the night. Much to my surprise he said to me "So where are the late
night jazz bars? Let's go hear some live music!" |
