Meet Terry The Tarantula
So Blythe went to get
passes for our second night's stay at the Grand Canyon.
I'm relaxing with my coffee out in the sun when I was graced by my new friend
Terry who strolled by my leg. I immediately went to Defcon
4. I had to get a picture
of him since I've never been so close to a spider of this size without glass between us.
So I grab the camera. Since I didn't have a zoom lense I had to really bend down
close to him to get that right shot. Later, I stopped a forest ranger to ask what
kind of spider I had made contact with at our campground. Until then, I didn't
realize
he was one of those Tarantula kind. He also told me that they are not
poisonous
but that their bite redefines pain. One more trait he told me was that they
have strong legs that allow them to jump. After hearing that I sure was glad I had
bent down
so low to take his picture. Needless to say that night we ate our dinner, hung out
and slept in the Ford. For some reason we didn't feel like hanging out by the
camp fire like the night before.
